Paul Rocheleau, CFO of HABCO in Glastonbury, CT

n 1970 HABCO Industries was founded by Henry A. Backmann, a former Pratt & Whitney aircraft engineer with a focus on custom test solutions.  Henry went on to develop the first GSE with PWA for JT9D Fuel Nozzles.  In 2000 Henry sold HABCO to Kristin Muschett, who introduced ground support equipment for rotary winged aircraft to the company profile.  After Kristin took over, HABCO went on to win an array of awards.  In 2004 HABCO won the “Fast Fifty Award”, in 2007 they won the United Space Alliance SFA Supplier Award, and shortly after they also won the “Excellence in Manufacturing Award” from the Association for Manufacturing Excellence.  A few years later, in 2010, the decision was made to move HABCO to a larger, more modern facility to allow for future growth.  Two years later, HABCO achieved Supplier Gold Status with UTC for perfect delivery and quality to all UTC divisions as well as exceptionally high scores on the Lean Assessment and Market Feedback Assessment.  In 2012, Kristin sold the business to HABCO Industries.

Christopher Almonte is the International Sales Manager at Spectra Colors Corp (SCC), a small business manufacturing specialty dyes and colorants for a wide variety of applications. 3/17/15 – 3D Printing has been around for more than 25 years, but how is it being used in manufacturing? How can it be used? Special Guest Terry Wohlers, President of Wohlers Associates Inc. joins us at MFG Talk Radio to discuss new developments and trends in rapid product development and additive manufacturing. Mr. Brad Holcomb, Committee Chair of the ISM's Report on Business® will present the latest in-depth information on the PMI® Purchasing Manager’s Index covering February 2015.  Brad offers listeners keen insights into the meaning behind the numbers, and listeners are encouraged to obtain a copy of the report at www.ism.ws prior to the show so that they can follow along, especially making notes about their own industry highlighted in the report.

Mr. Holcomb will be joined by Dr. Chris Kuehl, an economist who adds a touch of humor to what is happening and what may be coming in the ups and downs of America’s business engine. Chris also provides his quick wit comments on economies around the globe; what countries are doing well, which ones are blundering, and where the hot spots or soft spots appear.

Brad Holcomb, CPSM, CPSD, is chair of the ISM Manufacturing Business Survey Committee. In that role, he is responsible for compiling, writing and releasing the ISM Manufacturing Report On Business®, based on the survey results of approximately 350 supply management professionals across 18 different industry sectors. The Report On Business® is released on the first business day of each month, and features the PMI Index as its key measure.

Dr. Kuehl has been the economic analyst for the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International for the past eight years.  He is the author of FMA’s twice monthly economic e-newsletter titled Fabrinomics®, specifically designed to aid business decision-making by management and shop owners in the metal forming and fabricating industry.  He also conducts workshops for FMA at major conferences and trade shows.  FMA is a professional organization with more than 2,500 members working together to improve the metal forming and fabricating industry.
